BlueFeeds
BlueFeed Cluster is a collaborative alliance bringing together six Horizon Europe projects – NeoGiANT, POLYPUFA, SwitchFloc, ActFast, Microbiomes4Soy, and EUAqua.Org – all working toward a healthier, more resilient, and environmentally responsible aquaculture and feed sector in Europe.
Through this cluster, the participating initiatives combine expertise on natural antimicrobials, sustainable omega-3 sources, advanced biofloc systems, climate-resilient aquaculture strategies, microbiome-driven sustainability solutions, and organic fish breeding. Together, they aim to accelerate innovation, foster knowledge exchange, and support the adoption of science-based, nature-positive practices across the aquaculture value chain.
By aligning communication, sharing results, and identifying complementarities, the BlueFeed Cluster enhances the collective impact of each project and contributes to the EUʼs transition toward sustainable food systems.
Objectives of the BlueFeed Cluster
- Promote cross-project collaboration to integrate knowledge from diverse research areas such as feed innovation, microbiomes, organic breeding, climate resilience, biofloc systems, and natural antimicrobials.
- Support the transition toward sustainable aquaculture by providing practical, science-based solutions that improve animal health, feed efficiency, and environmental performance.
- Foster innovation and technology transfer, connecting research outputs with industry needs and accelerating adoption of new practices.
- Create a long-lasting knowledge-sharing network, enabling exchange of data, results, methodologies, and best practices among researchers, companies, and stakeholders.
- Enhance visibility and communication impact through coordinated dissemination activities, joint branding, and collaborative outreach efforts.
- Address key challenges such as climate change, antibiotic reduction, feed sustainability, resource optimization, and consumer demand for high-quality proteins.
