the Laboratory of Reproduction Physiology team from the Faculty of Fisheries and Water Protection attended the 9th International Workshop on the Biology of Fish Gametes in León from July 15-19, 2024. This prestigious workshop brought together research groups from around the globe to discuss fish gamete quality, development, reproductive biotechnologies, and genetic resource banking, aiming to unravel the biological foundations of the reproductive process and enhance reproduction in aquaculture.
Representing the NeoGiANT project, team members Serhii Boryshpolets, Borys Dzyuba, Vitaliy Kholodnyy, and Analolii Sotnikov actively participated in this influential event. Serhii Boryshpolets delivered a compelling presentation on the results of using grape extract during the short-term storage of fish spermatozoa. His talk, titled “Natural Extracts from Grape Marc as Supplements for Fish Semen Extenders,” was followed by a lively discussion on the potential applications of these extracts in aquaculture.
In addition to the insightful presentation, we are pleased to announce that Analolii Sotnikov will undertake a research stay at the University of León. Under the supervision of Dr. Felipe Martínez Pastor, WP6 leader, Sotnikov will analyze and discuss the results of previous experiments and plan the next steps for advancing our research.
The NeoGiANT project continues to make significant strides in agricultural innovation, and our participation in this workshop underscores our commitment to advancing reproductive technologies in aquaculture. We look forward to sharing more updates and breakthroughs from our research team.
