From 4–6 March 2026, partners of the NeoGiANT project gathered in Santiago de Compostela for the Final General Assembly and Closing Event, hosted at the Centro de Formación de la EDIUS (Centro de Estudos Avanzados). The three-day meeting marked an important milestone for the consortium, bringing together partners to review achievements, present final results, and reflect on the impact of the project.
The first day was dedicated to the 8th General Assembly and 16th Steering Committee, where partners presented the progress achieved across all Work Packages. Discussions covered key aspects of the project, including scientific developments, validation activities, project management, market perspectives, and communication and dissemination efforts.
These sessions provided an opportunity for the consortium to evaluate the work carried out throughout the project and align on the final steps before its conclusion. The collaborative discussions highlighted the strong interdisciplinary effort that has driven NeoGiANT’s research and innovation activities.
On the second day, the consortium held the NeoGiANT Closing Ceremony, where the project’s main outcomes were presented to a broader audience. Partners shared the key scientific and technological results achieved during the project, including advances related to antibiotic-free antimicrobial formulations and innovative solutions for animal health and sperm preservation.
The event also included insights from the European Commission, reflections from the consortium on the project’s achievements and challenges, and discussions on knowledge transfer and future collaboration opportunities. A roundtable session allowed partners to exchange perspectives on the impact of the project and the potential next steps for bringing NeoGiANT innovations closer to real-world applications.
Beyond the technical sessions, the meeting also offered opportunities to strengthen connections among partners and celebrate the end of the project together. Participants enjoyed a guided tour of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, explored the historic city centre, and took part in networking activities and shared dinners.
On the final day, partners joined a boating excursion and visited an Albariño winery, where they experienced local traditions through a wine tasting and tapas pairing. These moments provided a relaxed setting to reflect on the collaboration and friendships built throughout the project.
As NeoGiANT reaches its conclusion, the Final General Assembly and Closing Event highlighted the significant work carried out by the consortium and the promising potential of its results. The project has contributed valuable knowledge and innovative approaches towards reducing antibiotic use and developing sustainable solutions for animal production systems.
While the project formally concludes, the knowledge generated and partnerships established will continue to support future research, innovation, and collaboration in the field. 🌱🤝
